Lake Elsinore Southern California's Forgotten Lake
Lake Elsinore
Lake Elsinore is the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California. Most travelers along interstate 15 don't even give the lake a passing glance. From the freeway the lake looks almost dried up. Looks can be deceiving as Lake Elsinore is a thriving lake offering boating, fishing and water sports. A levee system keeps the lake smaller and fuller at a healthy 1200 foot.

Lake Isabella Visitor Information
Lake Isabella was formed when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dammed the Kern River in 1953. What was once a semi arid desert canyon turned in a water playground in Kern County. Lake Isabella is about 40 miles northeast of Bakersfield and about a three hour drive from Los Angeles. Visitors come from all over California to enjoy the lake and surround area. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in the United States with half of it's deep blue water in California and the other half in Nevada. About two-thirds of the shoreline is in California which is also the most developed area of Lake Tahoe.
